Javier Sanso in his liferaft awaiting rescue
This Sunday morning 3rd February around 1049hrs UTC two distress beacons of ACCIONA 100% EcoPowered, skippered by Spanish solo sailor Javier Sanso which is racing in the Vendée Globe non stop solo round the world race were triggered. The alarms were received at 1052hrs UTC. -

A 11h49, heure française, ce dimanche 3 février, les deux balises de détresse d’ACCIONA 100% EcoPowered ont été déclenchées. Le bateau était alors positionné par 31° 59.00 N et 27 26.24 W, soit 500 milles à l’ouest de Madère et 360 milles dans le sud de Sao Miguel (Açores). -

Armel Le Cléac’h crossed the Vendée Globe finish line Sunday 27th January 2013 at 17 hour 35 min 52 seconds GMT. He finishes the race 78 days 5 hours and 33 minutes behind François Gabart. This is the smallest gap between the winner and the second in the Vendée Globe history, a mere 3 hours 17minutes 12 seconds behind Gabart. -

François Gabart crossed the Vendée Globe finish line at 15 hours 18 minutes 40 seconds, French time, setting a new solo round-the-world record of 78 day, 2 hours, 16 minutes and 40 seconds. Beating Michel Desjoyeaux’s record by 6 day 00 hours 53 minutes -

Stamm passe le Horn après Wavre mais devrait annoncer son abandon
L’actualité se bouscule en ce 60e jour de mer avec un véritable défilé au cap Horn. D’ici ce soir aux alentours de 22 heures, 5 concurrents auront franchi la longitude du 67°17’21’’. Pendant ce temps, à l’avant, MACIF et Banque Populaire se rapprochent du centre de l’anticyclone de Sainte Hélène. -

Jean Le Cam : "I think my Cape Horn crossing will be one of my best memories of this year’s edition"
Jean Le Cam (SynerCiel) became the 5th competitor to round Cape Horn, today, 8th January 2013 at 07h 19m 14s GMT for the 4th time in his sailing career. It took him 58 days 19h 17m 14s since he left Les Sables d’Olonne. He crossed the Horn 6 days 12 h 58 m 20 s after the race leader, François Gabart (MACIF). -

Bernard Stamm disqualified for receiving assistance
