This Saturday morning, at 0545 GMT, Groupama 4 left the Multiplast yard in Vannes, SW Brittany. After a delivery by road, Franck Cammas’ new Volvo Open 70 arrived at Groupama Sailing Team’s base in nearby Lorient at 0830 hours, a moment the whole team had been looking forward to. -

1st 2011 Volvo Open 70 set sails in the Hauraki Gulf
CAMPER with Emirates Team New Zealand took another major step forward today in their Volvo Ocean Race programme, when skipper Chris Nicholson took the yacht for its first sail in the Hauraki Gulf in New Zealand. New look schedule for Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12
The course and dates for the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 have been officially announced today. This edition of the race will see a new format for the racing programme in the host cities, including the start city of Alicante, Spain and finish city of Galway, Ireland. For the first time, the Volvo Ocean Race will finish with an In-Port race in Galway. -

The new look Volvo Open 70 Rule, published today along with the Notice of Race, confirm changes set to enhance the fleet racing in the 11th Volvo Ocean Race, which will start from its new home base of Alicante in Spain in the autumn of 2011.
