The Maxi Trimaran IDEC SPORT sailed by Francis Joyon, Clément Surtel, Alex Pella, Bernard Stamm, Gwénolé Gahinet and Sébastien Audigane won the Jules Verne Trophy, the outright round the world sailing record Record #sailingrecord , this morning.

IDEC SPORT crossed the finishing line off Ushant at 1650hrs UTC on Friday 8th January. Francis Joyon and his crew of five took 47 days 14 hours and 47 minutes to sail around the world. This was the third best time in the history of the Jules Verne Trophy

The maxi trimaran Banque Populaire V has crossed the finishing line of the Jules Verne Trophy at 23:14, french hour. The overall time around the world (subject to be ratified) is 45 days 13 hours 42 minutes 53 seconds.
L’idée d’un tour du monde à la voile en moins de 80 jours date de 1985. Yves Le Cornec et d’autres marins rêvaient de ce que réalisera le premier l’équipage de Bruno Peyron en 1993.
