Bernard Stamm finds a ’swiss exit’ through the doldrums
There is much to report this afternoon as the twelve yachts in the Around Alone make their way south. In Class 1 British sailor Emma Richards on Pindar has overtaken Thierry Dubois on Solidaires and is now a firm 17 miles ahead of the French skipper in second place again. -

Stamm’s lead folds in half
The 6 strong Class 2 fleet and one Class 1 yacht in Around Alone have crossed the ’official demarcation’ between Europe and Africa, 150 or so miles from the Canary Islands. The last 24hrs has seen a strong battle of tactics as the fleet encounters a transitional weather system with varying winds. -

Class 1 yachts find the Doldrums better than expected
The wind has filled in for the Class 2 yachts, and all except John Dennis on Bayer Ascensia are enjoying ideal sailing with the wind from behind and clear skies above. They have passed the latitude of Gibraltar and are now off the African coast making good speed. -
