Bathed in golden light and title glory, an elated Torah Bright (AUS) was proclaimed the second Women’s TTR World Snowboard Tour Champion 06/07 at TTR SIX(6)STAR Roxy Chicken Jam, 22nd-25th March, 2007, in Park City/Utah, USA.

Perfect spring conditions prevailed at Park City as the Slopestyle contest of the 3rd Annual Roxy Chicken Jam became the deciding TTR point-earning event for the women’s Champion title. With one of the most talented rider line-ups of the season, the best-of-4-runs jam session culminated in a 15-woman Final that proved a close-cut challenge for judges to call. After tough deliberation, Slopestyle victory finally went to accomplished rider Tara Dakides (USA) who delivered amongst her best runs a backflip over the kicker, backside rodeo to a clean backside 720, ending with a boardslide-to-fakie on the flat down flat. Jamie Anderson’s (USA) fluidity and impressive rail maneuvers throughout the course earned a second place finish, and take her back to the TTR World Nr 2 spot.

But it was Torah Bright’s clean mix of cab 540s and cab 720s that earned her a 3rd place podium result – and win enough TTR points to extend her Nr 1 lead over last season’s Tour winner, Cheryl Maas (NED) - and secure the 2nd Women’s TTR World Snowboard Tour Champion 06/07 crown.

In front of a crowd of expectant spectators, Maas (NED) handed over her title and the TTR plaque to a jubilant Bright (AUS). In a shower of champagne Bright (AUS) was bowled over by a throng of media and fans as she celebrated her world title. On her victory, Bright (AUS) stated : ‘Winning the TTR title is amazing – I am absolutely speechless ! TTR is just what we need in snowboarding – it’s amazing to have a title that can legitimize the sport and ourselves as authentic athletes. I just wanted to have fun today and was also thrilled since it was the first time I tried and landed a switch frontside 720. I am just so happy today !’

Bright (AUS) joins recently crowned male Shaun White (USA) as the TTR World Tour Champions 06/07.

Post-crowning the TTR Tour Champions, the calendar continues through to the end of April 2007. All TTR contests attended until then will provide riders with TTR Ranking Points for the 06/07 TTR Ranking List presented by Swatch to add to their overall ranking score until May 01st, 2007.
