The Hydrofoiler team announces on its site to have broken the 50 knots barrier dring speed sessions in Hyères in the South of France. It would have even improved its performances during the all day. The foil Foil #foil machine would have thus exceeded the 51 knots over 500 meters. A performance realized under the control of the WSSRC and which could become the new world speed records over the distance standard.

Alain Thébault and his crew sailed by “only” 20 to 25 knots of wind.

They would have also beaten the speed records on one nautical mille with an average speed of 47,8 knots. One remembers that this was the top speed of the 40 meters long trimaran Banque Populaire V at the time of its record Record #sailingrecord on the Atlantic last month.

On its side, the Hydrofoil still announces a top speed of 54 knots ! That is to say 100 km/h. A speed recorded by the GPS on board…
