On the 27th of February, at the Royal Southampton Yacht Club, Katie Miller Yacht Racing unveiled the finance software company bluQube as their Title Sponsor. The partnership will oversee Katie’s entry as the youngest ever female competitor in the 2009 OSTAR single-handed Trans-Atlantic race, and her inauguration into the Figaro European Championships in 2010.

Dee Caffari MBE, recently returned from her successful Vendée Globe campaign, and the only woman to have sailed solo, non stop, both ways around the world, was on hand to officially name Katie’s Figaro, and become Godmother to the boat and project.

- Katie Miller : “bluQube have a history of sponsoring Sponsoring #Sponsoring solo sailors and events. They supported Steve White in the recent Vendée, and my first ever offshore solo race. It’s a privilege to be sponsored by a company with such enthusiasm and support for solo sailors. I am looking forward to a long and successful partnership with them !”

“Dee has been such an inspiration, particularly since she awarded me with the Young Sailor of the Year Trophy in 2007. To have Dee name bluQube was a real honour, especially since she has so recently finished the Vendée Globe, an event I am looking forward to competing in, in 2016.”

- Dee Caffari : “I’m delighted to be bluQube’s godmother and support Katie’s sailing campaign. As the youngest ever female competitor in the 2009 OSTAR single-handed Trans-Atlantic race, Katie is definitely going to be one to watch in the world of offshore racing. Getting the financial backing to reach the start line is always a tough challenge so I am thrilled that Katie has the ongoing support of bluQube. I wish her every success in the future and look forward to watching the race unfold later in the year. ”

- Simon Kearsley, CEO of finance software company bluQube : “We feel that Katie is a great fit with our own values because of her determination, dedication and pragmatic approach. Not only does the sponsorship give us something different to talk about besides accounting software, which can often be perceived as quite a dry subject, it is also a sport that appeals to a large proportion of our target market - senior decision-making professionals from medium to large sized companies. We wish Katie all the best in the OSTAR and both our customers and staff look forward to supporting and tracking her progress”

The event, sponsored by Mount Gay Rum, was attended by a number of Katie’s sailing mentors including Dame Ellen MacArthur. Katie and Ellen first met when Katie became one of the early volunteers with The Ellen MacArthur Trust. Katie’s Round Britain voyage in her 21ft Corribee was inspired by Ellens own journey in a similar boat 11 years earlier. Since then Katie has gone on to become an Ambassador for the Trust and still skippers a trip each year taking young people recovering from Cancer and Leukaemia sailing.

- Ellen MacArthur : "From personal experience anyone who can make it round Britain in a Corribee is clearly passionate and Katie is definitely passionate about solo sailing !"

The newly branded race boat was officially named bluQube by Dee Caffari.
