The Swan 45 La Forza del Destino wins Giraglia Rolex Cup
Vendée Globe winner finishes 5th and first Open 60

The long-distance race from which the whole event takes its name (243 miles from St. Tropez-scoglio della Giraglia-Genoa) boasted a record Record #sailingrecord number of participants : 185 boats in all set off from the small French port on Thursday 20 June.
The weather conditions ˆ a slight wind of 4-5 knots and calm sea ˆ proved trying for the participants who were forced to continually revise their tactics.
The first to cross the line at 6.36am Saturday 22 June was Maxi Idea belonging to Raffaele Raiola, winner of the race in real time, followed a few hours later by My Song owned by Pigi Loro Piana and Riviera di Rimini owned by Giorgio Benvenuti.
But it was the arrival of the smaller boats that completely upset the results in compensated time that take into account the characteristics of the various boats competing.
The winner in compensated time turned out to be La Forza del Destino (the force of destiny) owned by Aldo Fozzati, a new monotype Monotype #sportboats Swan 45 built by Leonardo Ferragamo‚s Swan boatyard. La Forza del Destino, with Gabriele Benussi at the helm, raced an outstanding regatta and crossed the finish line on Saturday at 12:41:29, just six hours after Idea. Second in compensated time was Calima owned by the Spaniard Javier Pujol ; third was Bix-Dynameeting owned by Natalio Ceppolaro ; fourth Ginger Tripp owned by Diego Zamorani ; and fifth Ala Bianca owned by Camillo Capozzi.
On their arrival the boats were welcomed by the S. Pellegrino team with plates of pasta, hot coffee and croissants.
The award ceremony will take place this evening at the Yacht Club Italiano during a gala dinner to which over 1,000 guests have been invited.
Idea belonging to Raffaele Raiola, winner of the Giraglia in real time, takes the Rolex Trophy and Renè Levainville Trophy.
La Forza del Destino, winner of the Giraglia in compensated time, takes the Challenge Rolex Trophy and the Challenge Bellon Trophy.
