Booms break for Dalton and Schwab boats
At 23:59 GMT, 21 February 2003, in the pitch dark of the Southern Ocean 900 miles from Cape Horn, Hexagon skipper Graham Dalton, currently lying 3rd in Leg 4 of Around Alone, reported that his boom had snapped during a gybe. Solo sailors now 1500 nm from Cape Horn
The leading yachts in Around Alone 2002-03 are under 1,500 miles from the infamous Cape Horn, which marks the gateway out of the Southern Ocean. Grand prix racing in the Roaring Forties

Open monohull fleet has left New Zealand to Brazil via Horn Cape
